That argument is credible. Modern workloads keep asking consumer systems to do more at once: render richer visuals, maintain larger game assets in memory, and run AI-assisted features such as upscaling, image generation, summarization, and local inference. If memory subsystems cannot keep up, users feel it immediately as lag, stutter, or slower AI response times.

GDDR7 matters because it offers both higher bandwidth and a path toward larger effective graphics memory pools.
