Meta's latest pitch is that AI should not stop at answering questions. In a July 24, 2026 post, the company said Meta AI, powered by Muse Spark 1.1, can now make plans, connect to email and calendar apps, create slides, and handle tasks for users.

The interesting part is not the marketing language about superintelligence. It is the product direction. Meta is trying to move from assistant-style chat toward agent-style execution, where the software keeps context, follows through, and completes work instead of just suggesting next steps.

If that holds up in practice, it pushes consumer AI closer to the same action-oriented model enterprise vendors are chasing. The line between chatbot and software operator keeps getting thinner.

Why it matters: the consumer AI race is shifting from who answers best to who can actually get things done.
